University of Athens

The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (University of Athens in brief), established in 1837, is the top ranked and oldest university of Greece. It consists of 33 Departments organized in 8 Schools, with around 2000 faculty members and more than 50,000 students.

UoA participates in UniServer through the Computer Architecture Laboratory of the Department of Informatics & Telecommunications, the top Computer Science department of the country, globally recognized with continuous participation in ICT research and development projects funded by the EU, the Greek government, and the industry. The Laboratory is specialized in reliability, performance and power related topics for general purpose and embedded architectures with emphasis on reliability evaluation, error detection and diagnosis, self-test, online test, and post-silicon validation for microprocessors, embedded processors, multicore/multithreaded processor architectures and memories, as well as on hardware- and software-based repair and recovery methodologies.

Computer Architecture Laboratory research activities on microprocessor performance and reliability are currently supported by Cisco, AMD, IBM, ABB, and ESA. The Lab’s research has been extensively supported by the Greek government and the European Union (more than 15 projects in total). Currently, the Lab participates in FP7 CLERECO project and also coordinates the EU and nationally-funded research project HOLISTIC on hardware and software techniques for multicore architectures reliability and DIaSTEMA project on GPUs performance, power, programmability and dependability.
